Sweet-toothed west Londoners have another reason to smile as chocolate making businesses continue to grow with the latest shop to open in Brentford last week.
The area has become a chocolatiers paradise with Bianca Marton's artisan truffles on London Road opening last Thursday (27), making it the 22nd shop in west London, and third in Hounslow.
Data released ahead of the Brentford opening, from Companies House, was based on 21 businesses registered in the area from tiny independent stores to confectionery giants such as Cadbury and Mars.
It revealed there are 1.04 chocolatiers for every 100,000 residents, nearly double the UK average of 0.66 making West London a chocolate hotspot.
Westminster was home to the highest number of chocolatiers with seven in the area, giving it a rate of 3.1 chocolate-makers for every 100,000 people who live there, and in 11th place in the UK.
In other boroughs, Hillingdon had six chocolate shops, Kensington and Chelsea, three, Harrow, two and Brent one.
Camden in North London was home to an incredible 16 chocolatiers meaning there were 7 for every 100,000 residents - more than ten times the national average.
Blackpool came second with five for every 100,000 people and Corby in Northamptonshire came third with 4.7 for every 100,000.
As of the start of November there were 416 chocolatiers registered with Companies House - the UK's official registrar of companies.
