A new Wilkos has opened in Kensington High Street, creating 62 jobs for the area.

The home and garden retailers replaced Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports and became the sixth store in central London when it opened its doors on Tuesday (December 8).

Chelsea Pensioners lead the ceremonial ribbon cutting alongside Wilko staff members Sean Toal, Harlen Holding and Aidan Connolly.

To celebrate the opening, Wilko is offering one lucky customer the chance to win the #BestChristmasEver in our competition.

Branch manager, Harlen Holding, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have made this move into such a high-profile shopping destination.

"We can’t wait to introduce Kensington to the Wilko range of great value, great quality products for the whole family to enjoy."

The first 100 customers through the door received a £5 Wilko gift card in a bag full of Wilko products and were welcomed into the store in full festive manner, with music from Brass Santas and a face painter for children.

Outside Kensington High Street tube station, Wilko members also gave out hot chocolates and snacks to passers by.

The store also announced their chosen charity to support and St Mungo's homeless charity were delighted to be selected.
