Home Instead Senior Care has announced the creation of 850 new jobs in London for the year ahead.
The company, which has offices in Ealing, Chiswick, Hammersmith, Kensington, Ruislip, Harrow and Westminster is part of a national network employing over six thousand people. It provides care to elderly people in their own homes.
The care sector is growing at a significant rate as a result of the ageing population. The latest figures from Age UK report that there are now more pensioners than under 16’s living in the UK and with many older people opting to remain in their own homes, there is a boom in demand for people in caring roles.
The need to employ more carers in the region is a reflection of a national trend which is a result of the ageing population. A recent report from the UK Commission for Employment and Skills has identified the need to recruit over half a million carers by 2022. The report also listed caring as one of the careers of the future, and for caring and compassionate people, it creates a real opportunity.
Speaking about the recruitment drive, Tony Hussain from the Ealing office of Home Instead Senior Care says: "We are passionate about changing the face of ageing. I think it’s the unique and high-quality personal service which we offer that has allowed us to grow and create so many jobs across London.
"We consider our fantastic caregivers as everyday superheroes; they are everyday people doing extraordinary work. Our caregivers come from all different backgrounds, but what they all have in common is their desire to help others. We believe caregiving is a stimulating and inspiring career, and encourage people to think about becoming a caregiver who may not have considered it before.”
