Children and parents of a day nursery in Chiswick were greeted with cheers from staff celebrating their status as one of top UK companies.

Devonshire Day Nursery, in Bennett Street, an employee-owned business, scooped ninth place in the prestigious Sunday Times Best 100 Companies to Work For Lists in 2015.

The nursery for children aged six weeks to five years, was also given a three-star extraordinary rating, one of only 139 companies to achieve this.

To mark the occasion, staff handed out celebratory biscuits to children at the nursery group.

Manager Dee Townsend said: "It is a very personal achievement because we are all employee owners and what we say really does make a difference.

"When you are committed to giving young children the very best start in life, a happy supported staff team is vital.

“Ofsted inspectors have told us repeatedly that a happy and engaged staff team equals happy children.

"Our pride in our nursery and our company is reflected in our happy and confident children and there is nothing more rewarding or satisfying than that.”

Devonshire Day Nursery is part of the award-winning Childbase Partnership group, which has 46 nurseries in the South of England.

It has come a long way to reach the top, rising 81 places in five years.

In other categories, such as making good use of employee skills and career development initiatives it was ranked fifth, and for job security, it was third best.
