Powerful winds on Friday night brought down this large branch on to a path in Cowley Recreation Ground.

Freelance photographer Steve Beaumont, who lives nearby and was out walking his dog with his daughter, Izzy (pictured), grabbed the picture, above.

"It most certainly would have been fatal being hit by this", he said.

Elsewhere, the wind took its toll on fragile structures, and streets were littered with twigs and small branches.

Flooding remains a threat, despite a let up in the rain of recent days.

Denham Country Park near Uxbridge is severely flooded, as the River Misbourne is joining forces with the River Colne, flowing across The Buckinghamshire Golf Club, below, to spill into its bigger brother to the east and filling the woods and meadows of the park up to a foot deep with water.
