This summer saw the opening of a new hotel in West London, Park Plaza London Park Royal.

Featuring fashionable facilities and pop-art style furniture, the 212-bedroom hotel is suitable for both leisure and business guests and is located next to some of the area's biggest tourist attractions including Wembley Stadium.

Situated opposite Park Royal train station and off the Western Avenue, the four star hotel was certainly easy to find when my boyfriend and I went to meet the manager and tour the sparkling site.

Expect a friendly and professional welcome as soon as you arrive at the trendy reception area until the moment you check-out.

Spread across six floors, we found 120 modern superior rooms and 92 studio rooms with additional space and sofa beds, making it ideal for families.

A studio room

We stayed in a studio king room, decorated with a contemporary grey and white colour palette and kitted out with comfortable yet elegant furniture.

Snazzy reception

Even though we were in the heart of the capital and next to a main road we could see nothing but trees outside our window which was a surprising delight and it was so quiet too.

Free Wi-Fi, a 48-inch LED smart TV (with Sky Sports to my boyfriend's delight), Nespresso machine (to mine), a minibar and Elemis bathroom amenities also made our stay extra satisfying.

Luxurious toilitries in the bathrooms

One of the biggest things we noticed running throughout the hotel was a passion for 'keeping things local'.

There were various little touches showcasing British produce including complimentary McVitie's Digestive biscuits found in our your room (the food company has a factory just 20 minutes away from the hotel).

The hotel may not have a pool, but there is a gym for guests who don't want to miss a workout.

For foodies, there is a chic bar and restaurant offering favourite British dishes including scotch egg, steak and Guinness pie and sticky toffee pudding.

The restaurant

We dined in Westway Bar and Kitchen for dinner and a splendid hot and continental breakfast the following morning.

My partner enjoyed the most exciting of scotch eggs (£4.50) while I had a classic prawn cocktail (£5.50) for starter.

Our mains were just as mouthwatering, comforting and affordable. He had the 8oz dry aged sirloin steak (£22) with watercress, brandy and peppercorn sauce and chips while I went for pan-fried sea bass (£15) with courgette spaghetti, red pepper and crushed new potatoes - both cooked beautifully.

We skipped pudding in favour of a couple more drinks in the snazzy bar - after all it was a Saturday night.

With a luxury check-out time of 12pm the next day, we woke feeling well rested and took a leisurely stroll to the smell of bacon before saying our goodbyes to the wonderful staff.
