"Are we nearly there yet?" - a telltale phrase that indicates the kids are getting bored in the backseat while on long journeys.

But what can parents do when the boredom hits?

Don't worry - we've got you covered with a few fun games and tips for keeping the kids entertained.

Tin foil challenge

This is a fun one and is easy to prepare for. Just pack a roll of tin foil in to the car and you're all set.

All passengers get a sheet of of tin foil and can mould it in to anything they want.

This game is great as its cheap and makes little mess to clear up afterwards. Plus you can make a tin foil dinosaur. Who doesn't want a tin foil dinosaur?

Bing who?

In this game the children say a first name and the adults have to think of a famous person with that name.

If the adults can think of someone, they get a point, if they don't, it's a point for the children.

Tablet tips

Remember to charge and download games/videos onto your tablet before a journey OR consider using MIFI for unlimited fun.

Who's next door?

This one's good when you're stuck in traffic. Choose a window and take a peek at the person in the car nearest and decide where they're from and where they're going.

The quiet game

If these don't work and all else fails... How about a game of "Let's see who can stay quiet the longest?"
