In case you didn’t know, masks are the most ancient forms of beauty treatments out there. All around the world from the smallest remote villages to big high fashion cities, women apply facial masks.

In the old days women applied exotic ingredients on to their skin in order to keep it smooth to protect it from the elements and from premature aging. Today natural face masks are still very popular and extremely cheap! You know exactly what you are applying to your skin, so no toxic ingredients.

Here are my favourite natural home made masks I use on myself and on my clients to naturally nourish and heal winter skin.

Avocado Mask
Avocado Mask

Avocado Mask - The vitamin A is perfect for to nourish dry irritated winter skin. Vitamin E and C act as antioxidants that will combat free radical damage.  Simply mash the avocado flesh with a touch of olive oil and apply to your face and neck. Healthy fats, vitamins and antioxidants will naturally fight winter dryness.

Milk mask - Tired skin lacking lustre and needs brightening? Apply Natural yoghurt, buttermilk, sour cream or kefir to your face for 15 minutes and rinse with cool water. The natural lactic acids within the milk product will gently exfoliate and rebalance the natural Ph of your skin.

Egg whites - Oily skin with large pores? Beat one egg white and apply to the face and neck.  Not only will this mask draw out impurities but it will also tighten and tone the skin. You skin will be so much more healthier and will be ready for the harsh winter winds!

Oatmeal and honey beauty treatment
Oatmeal and honey beauty treatment

Oatmeal mask. - one of my favourites.  Mix together porridge oats and honey.  You dont want it too runny as it will slide off your face.  Just enough honey to make it stick.  The oatmeal will release it naturally hydrating properties but also when you remove this mask it also exfoliates the skin!!  Apply cool warm water, massage all the face and neck with circular movements.

Whilst your mask is on apply sliced Kiwi to your eyes for the best vitamin C eye mask out there! There you have it! Exfoliation and masks that cost next to nothing to make!
