By the time you read this, Theo may already have been snapped up. Whoever wants this treasure, will have to move fast. Until last month, Theo had been with the same owner for seven years - since he was a puppy.

Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, the owner could no longer keep him and had to give him to Dogs Trust. Theo, a Jack Russell Terrier, has settled in well but must wonder why his world has suddenly fallen apart. He is confident and happy to meet people. Potentially, he is suitable to be re-homed by first-time dog owners. If you would like to be the centre of Theo’s rebuilt world, call 01895 453 930 or go and see him at Harvil Road, Harefield UB9 6JW.

First-time owner or not, you could find useful the Dogs Trust videos of dog training. Called Dog Training Made Easy, each video is around 2-5 minutes long and can be watched in order or individually. As a whole, the series is aimed to help ensure your dog is happy, sociable and well-trained. The videos guide dog owners through topics such as handling your dog, how to stop your dog jumping up and pulling on the lead.

They can be viewed at www.dogstrust.org.uk. Go to the Dog A-Z tab and click on T for Training. If you need specific advice, they also have links there to behaviourists.

Battersea Dogs and Cats Home will be hoping for well-behaved animals and humans at the Battersea tea parties taking place around the country on Friday October 24. If you would like to raise money for Battersea by holding a tea party on or near that date, you need to register your party with them (battersea.org.uk/teaparty) and get a party pack to help you prepare. The pack contains ideas for invitations, recipes, cake flags, games and bunting. You can never have too much bunting.
