Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and one definitely worth getting up for.

But it's easy to get bored of the same early-morning routine: the same cereals (packed with sugar) or toast (leaving you a bit bloated).

Do you want new ideas to brighten up the start to your day?

Here are some combinations for you to try out in the next few months:

Fruit soup

This may sound wrong but try it and you'll find it's a great idea. Blend your choice of a combination of fruits with milk and fill up your bowl. Tasty, sweet, healthy, easy and you'll never get bored as you can try it with endless fruit combinations and types of milk. This is to be eaten cold.

Scrambled eggs with tomatoes and fresh dill

Soften a couple of finely chopped tomatoes in oil until they turn mushy, before adding beaten eggs and as much fresh dill as required. You get protein from the eggs, vitamins A and C and antioxidants from the tomatoes, and a digestive boost from the dill. It's an interesting combination, but trust me, it works. Also you'll feel full all morning without getting bloated.

Egyptian breakfast: fava beans in pitta bread

Known in Arabic as 'fool', this is a hearty breakfast option eaten in Egypt and Sudan. Buy a tin of fava beans, drain, wash, put them in a pan and cover with cold water, some fresh chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper. Allow the beans to simmer until the water has disappeared and add a teaspoon of ground cumin and dress with olive oil to serve. This mix is to be eaten in a warm pitta bread for that Mediterranean feel. This is certainly more of an exotic alternative to baked beans on toast!

Organic yoghurt with oats, honey and berry purée

This is a fresh, light and healthy option. Choose whichever berries you wish and blend them to make a smooth purée to pour over your choice of yoghurt, some oats and a drizzle of honey. A spoon of local honey a day is thought to be a natural treatment for hayfever.

Spanish breakfast: Pan con Tomate

Grill two slices of sourdough and top with cooked chopped tomatoes, garlic, salt, pepper and olive oil. Simple but tasty. Olive oil is full of really healthy fats and is often thought to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Stuffed avocado

Avocado is full of healthy fats, packed with vitamins, high in potassium - which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure - and rich in antioxidants, to name a few of the benefits. Slice an avocado in half, take the stone out, make a nice hole in the middle of each half and stuff it with prawns, mango pieces and rocket. Make a chili olive oil dressing for the top.

Green tea

Why not replace your usual morning brew with a green tea? Green tea has far greater health benefits. It has been found to boost the metabolic rate and increase fat burning, it is a powerful source of antioxidants, contains magnesium, caffeine, potassium, B vitamins, and naturally occurring folic acid.
