SUMMER has arrived and so has the colour for the season - yellow is the hot colour for this summer!

If you are reading this and thinking devastating thoughts because you cannot sport yellow, do not fear - it just depends on finding the right shade of yellow to complement your skin tone.

Lemon and sallow yellow shades will suit fairer complexions, whilst mustard and deeper yellows will suit darker skin tones. When buying yellow garments, be sure the colour sets off your skin tone rather than looking harsh against it.

Yellow does not have to be worn in full force to show you are keeping up with trends; after all it is not the most flattering of colours. As a result, you may choose to have flashes of yellow such as a clutch bag, chunky bangles or an alice band. These sorts of accessories can really add character to an outfit.

For those of you wanting to wear the trend more saliently, a shift dress is appropriate for day wear or a jersey dress for night wear.

For a more casual look, invest in a ruffled cotton shirt that would look perfect teamed with a pair of blue denim jeans. In addition, a printed 50s style skirt would also make a great casual outfit if teamed with an understated camisole.

There are different ways to incorporate yellow into your outfit and it does not always have to be obvious - there is certainly no excuse for wearing head to toe yellow!

Yellow is a fun colour and closely associated with summer. When wearing the colour, you can be reassured that you will always be in a summery mood despite the chance of random showers in July!

A few tips when wearing yellow:

* Do not wear head-to-toe yellow!

* Keep in mind the importance of picking the right shade for your colouring

* If yellow really doesn't suit you, go for accessories - even neon yellow nail varnish will work

* Yellow shoes shoes are not a no-go, in fact they can look fabulous!
