A BOSS from Sainsbury’s Kenton store won the retail firm’s Manager Of The Year award.

Sharon Dixon, a home delivery manager at the Nash Way supermarket, celebrated 25 years working for the company earlier this year.

During the last year she has managed a team of 60 employees and led her branch, where she has been working for the last nine years, to having one the best home delivery departments for customer service across London.

She said: “It’s quite overwhelming to receive an award and be recognised for a job that I love doing, and I still can’t believe it.

“The company has provided me with such fantastic opportunities over the years, and coupled with support and advice from my peers and colleagues has really made it a fantastic place to work.

“I pride myself on providing a first class service to my customers, and am thrilled to receive the award on behalf of my team who are at the heart of everything I do.”

Mrs Dixon collected the award from Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King at her employer’s annual conference held in Birmingham a fortnight ago.

Mr King said: “I am delighted to give Sharon her award and celebrate a manager who lives our values every day, putting customers and colleagues at the heart of everything we do.

“It is a very proud day for her and I am glad we were able to present her award in front of 5,000 of her colleagues.”
