A MOTHER raised more than £2,000 for charity at a grand ball.

Rebecca McDonnell, 24, from Ickenham, hosted the Hollywood-themed event at Uxbridge Golf Club, The Drive, on Saturday night, with all proceeds going to the Michael Sobell Hospice (MSH), in Northwood, and Cancer Research UK.

Friends, family and supporters of the hospice packed out the hall to enjoy a three-course meal, a raffle, auction, Michael Jackson tribute act and a disco.

Many of the visitors came in support of Linda Dallas, the former chairman of Hillingdon Musical Society, who lost a short battle with cancer earlier this year.

“Linda dying gave me the incentive to do it and for the MSH,” said Rebecca.

“It went really well, everyone said they had a brilliant time so maybe this time next year I can do the same again, I like doing things for charity.”

The exact amount raised is yet to be confirmed as people are still making donations.

Rebecca will also 'sleep rough' next week as part of homeless charity Trinity's annual Big Sleep Out to raise money for the homeless.
