An MP has raised £1,600 for the Harrow branch of Parkinson's UK.

Gareth Thomas, Labour MP for Harrow West, presented a cheque for £1,600 to the charity after undergoing three gruelling triathlons in May, June and July.

Mr Thomas said: “I’m delighted to be able to present this cheque to the Harrow branch of Parkinson’s UK. This local team do excellent work and I’m sure the funds raised will go to good use in the community."

Parkinson's UK are the largest charity funder of Parkinson's research in the UK, having invested more than £60million in ground-breaking research.

"I particularly enjoyed meeting some of my fellow fundraisers," he added, praising fellow fundraisers who underwent a skydive or organised a golf tournament.

"[These] are great examples of the fun that can be had in raising money for a good cause.”
