Six dogs will battle it out at Wimbledon Stadium this weekend for the ultimate greyhound racing prize: the William Hill Greyhound Derby.

The winner, crowned the fastest dog in the world, will receive a cheque for £250,000, making it the richest race ever staged.

The first race of the night - on Saturday (June 27) - is at 6.56pm with the last race at 10.14pm.

The main event, the William Hill Greyhound Derby, will take place at 9.08pm.

The track record has already gone in this year's competition, with the new time of 27.95 seconds set by Eden The Kid, who will line up again in the final.

But who should you place your bets on?

Odds are on the unbeaten Farloe Blitz, who has won all five of his races so far this year.

Jon Ivan-Duke, a spokesman for William Hill, said: "Farloe Blitz is one step away from the most prestigious prize in greyhound racing and a cool quarter of a million pounds.

"Punters will be dashing to collect their winnings if the popular favourite Farloe Blitz wins. We could be howling to the tune of £200k if he wins."

Race-goers will begin entering the stadium from 5.30pm. Pre-booked tickets cost £12 or £15 on the door.

If you can't make the race in person, they will be screened live on Sky Sports 2 from 7pm.
