Two free guided bike rides are taking place in Brent over the next few weeks.

The bike rides, run by British Cycling and Sky, take place all over London and are entirely free. All you need to do is register in advance for the ride.

The first ride is on Sunday April 12, a 19-mile ride called Brent - City Streets and Parklife. More details on the event can be found here.

The ride will take you to some of the best kept secrets in Brent including the Welsh Harp Reservoir, Fryent Country Park, Horsenden Hill, the Grand Union Canal, Roundwood Park and Gladstone Park.

The ride leads into the surrounding boroughs of Barnet, Ealing and Harrow, where the ride will take you up Harrow on the Hill past Harrow School, visiting St Mary's Church for some picturesque views at the top.

The second ride, a 25-mile route, is on Sunday April 19 and is called Brent - History and Heritage. This is for those well-accustomed to long distance bike riding and offers some exciting places of interest.

The adventurous ride follows poet John Betjeman's footsteps and discovers Metroland, Starting in Studbury, close to Betjeman's beloved Brent Valley.

The ride ascends Harrow on the Hill (another Betjeman poem), descending into Harrow Weald then out into the countryside up Clamp Hill and along old Redding, to enjoy views over the Weald and back towards Harrow Hill.

Then it's on through Oxhey Woods and Moor Park, stopping in Northwood, where you can see an iconic suburban road from 7'0s sitcom, Heaven.

Full details of this bike ride can be found here.
