A free Vaisakhi festival will take place in Norwood Green this Sunday (April 17).

The celebrations in Norwood Green Park will feature live music and dance, including performances by singers Silinder Pardesi and Nav Sidhu.

There will also be children's entertainment and rides, food stalls and face-painting, among other attractions, at the event.

The free event, which will run from midday to 6pm, is being organised by Asian Events Media, and Southall Travel is the main sponsor.

The Sikh festival of Vaisakhi marks the religion's roots as well as ushering in the Sikh new year.

Thousands of people lined the streets of Hounslow and Southall for Vaisakhi processions earlier this month.
