X Factor judges were given the fright of their lives both on and off the stage as the ITV show held auditions at Thorpe Park .

The episode aired on Saturday night (September 9) and showed Simon Cowell , Nicole Scherzinger , Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne on Derren Brown's Ghost Train: Rise of The Demon.

Despite Simon looking unimpressed throughout it all he claimed the ride was "the most terrifying thing" he has ever done - and he has had to listen to Chico and Wagner.

Nicole probably wished she stayed on the ride after she said: "Okay, now back to some scary auditions."

The judges and viewers alike were treated to some quirky contestants and stage names throughout Saturday night's episode.

Ginny Lemon, Doctor Woof and Holly Penfield will be some of the most memorable acts on the series for everything but their singing.

Poor Simon got another fright for his life, this time from a contestant at the theme park.

On the show, final contestant Holly Penfield sang B**** by Meredith Brooks but gave the music mogul another fright when he was scared by her "fairy wand whip" which she waved around during her performance.

Ginny "fancy a slice" Lemon failed to receive a single vote from their judges - even from Louis - after the act performed Just A Little by Liberty X and left Simon asking what is going on.

IT manager Andy revealed his alter ego Doctor Woof - a top-hat wearing, glitter loving Time Lord - to the judges but despite receiving a compliment from Sharon Osbourne he could not go through to the next round.

A possible future in the new series of Doctor Who perhaps? Maybe the new companion?!
