This year's X Factor has been one of the most controversial series so far, with Honey G making headlines every week until her elimination.

Now, the final is almost here and viewers will vote for their favourite to win - from Matt Terry, Saara and 5 After Midnight.

So after all the auditions, themed live weeks, tears and sob stories we've almost found ourselves at the finishing line.

Here's everything you need to know right before this weekend's show.

When is the final on?

This year's nail biting finale will air Saturday December 10th and Sunday December 11th.

The show will be spread across both nights and will start at 8pm with the winner being announced on Sunday night.

Sunday’s show will see the next elimination, as Dermot O’Leary tells the remaining acts who is safe and who has scored the lowest number of votes. There will be a nail-biting sing-off before the next contestant leaves the competition.

Who are the finalists?

Matt Terry

The Louis Tomlinson look-alike from Bromley won a place at Boot Camp with his soulful rendition of Ben E King's Stand By Me. He earned high praise from Mr Nasty aka Simon Cowell who said the 23-year-old reminded him of Ollly Murs.

Matt became one of the favourites to make it through to the Judges' Houses after his performance during the Six Chair Challenge. But he almost didn't make it through after judge Nicole Scherzinger said his cover of Bruno Mars' When I was Your Man was a bit too high.

In Week 2 of the live performances the waiter wowed audiences with his pitch perfect high notes during his take on Marvin Gaye's Heard It Through The Grapevine.

A favourite with the judges and audience alike it was a shock when Matt found himself in the sing off for the first time last Sunday. It was described as a “shocker” by host Dermot O’Leary because neither acts have been in the bottom two before, it saw Terry perform Hurt by Christina Aguilera and Middlemas appear barefoot to sing Wings by Birdy.

O’Leary revealed the week had seen the biggest vote of the series so far, with more than two million votes cast.

Saara

In her first audition 29-year-old Saara from Finland blew the judges away with her rendition of Sia's Chandelier, she then made it through boot camp with her take of On The Radio by Donna Summer.

But when it came to the Six Chair Challenge things started to look a bit shaky for the singer when her version of Ed Sheeran's I See Fire went down like a lead balloon with judge Sharon Osbourne . The outspoken red head said the performance lacked connection and passion.

Fellow judge Nicole Scherzinger stepped in and picked the hopeful as the wild card contestant - from there Saara went on to Sharon's Judge's House. She put her heart and soul into her rendition of Abba's The Winner Takes It All and despite Robbie Williams blasting her as "boring" she made it through to the live acts.

In the festive-themed live show last week Saara secured her place in the finals with her combo of White Christmas/ All I Want for Christmas Is You. In Finland she is a professional singer and has three albums under her belt.

5 After Midnight

The boy band were originally called 5am before changing their names due to legal reasons.

They explained more in a Twitter post, saying: "Our name change was because of legal reasons guys not just because we wanted to change it.... but we are happy with our new name!!"

The trio is made up of Kieran Alleyne 21, Nathan Lewis 23 and Jordan Lee 21 and their ages range from 20 -23. Mentored by Louis Walsh the boys wowed all four judges with their sultry smooth vocals and fancy footwork as they performed Drake's hot single One Dance. Walsh admitted he wasn't expecting 5 After Midnight to be so good.

After sailing through the Six Chair Challenge with their performance of Calvin Harris' How Deep Is Your Love the group made it through to the Judges' Houses. Here, Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon told the boys they had potential.

The boys all hail from different cities, Kieran is from Leicester, Nathan is from Brighton and Jordan is from London.

In week 7 they were in fear of losing their place in the competition and had a sing-off with Honey G to secure their place.

Before finding fame on the show Jordan worked in a casino, Nathan was a dance teacher and Kieran was a stage actor - he is now expecting his first child with his girlfriend Sophie.

Any controversy?

It was revealed in September that Matt Terry was still in a secret relationship with his ex girlfriend Jasmine Avis. During auditions he told judges his heart was broken by a long-term partner but could this have been a ploy to get the judges on his side?

Saara is no stranger to reality TV and after making her first appearance on X Factor news emerged she had come second place on The Voice in Finland. She also narrowly missed out on representing her country in the Eurovision Song Contest twice.

5 After Midnight member Alleyne hit the headlines after it was revealed he had already forged a successful solo music career in 2014 with his single Runnin' Low - the video has since had 1.5 million views on YouTube. He has also been a CBBC presenter, starred in two West End plays and was once a semi-professional basketball player.

What are the bookies odds?

When it comes down to the final hour the bookies odds are always a good indication of the current favourite.

After being in the sing-off three times this series Saara is now in the lead and the odds are very much in her favour.

She is now the favorite to win with odds of 8/11.
