London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon 's Emily Chudy caught up with indie singer/songwriter from west London's own Ladbroke Grove , Ben River.

The musician has already released three EPs, When the Sun Ate the Moon, Frontier, and Tomorrow's Child to critical acclaim, and is currently working on a brand new album.

Ben said: "I've played a lot of different types of music over the years; I get inspiration from experimenting with different styles and I think all the experimenting I've done will find its way onto the album I'm now working on.

"So many different artists, people, places and experiences inspire me, too many things to mention."

The singer has been creating music since he was a teenager, and has so far been featured on BBC Radio London, BBC Introducing, Acoustic Magazine, Shoreditch Radio and more.

Ben said: "I started playing music when I was about fifteen, started with an acoustic guitar on my own and then started playing with a punk band, then I moved into lots of different projects from hip hop, experimental electronic music and folk."

'Get involved with making the album happen'

Ben River has already released a trilogy of EPs and is planning to soon release a brand new album; there is currently a crowdfunding campaign to help fund the album, where listeners and fans can get involved in its creation.

Ben said: "The crowd funding campaign has just launched, its inspiring that people will be able to get involved with making the album happen.

"I've just announced today [Tuesday July 12] that the album is on its way, starting with the crowd funding campaign along with a new song and video, so hopefully people are looking forward to hearing it."

A reviewer for Acoustic Magazine said: "A compelling mix of folk and pop. Wholly believable and enjoyable."
