Danielle Nash, 24, a law student and aspiring model from Shepherd's Bush, has made it to the Top 10 of Curvy Kate's Star in a Bra competition.

Fuller Bust lingerie brand Curvy Kate has announced the finalists in its annual model search, the Star in a Bra competition.

The brand, who have never used professional models, celebrate an 'open to all' entry policy by calling on customers to star in all their campaigns, in order to promote a positive approach to body image.

10 women from across the UK and Ireland have beaten out 2,000 other women to the finalist spot and will be fighting out for the public's vote to win.

The top 10 hopefuls range from ages 20 to 34 years old and include students, an engineer, a nurse, a Healthcare assistant and a receptionist.

The hopeful curve models are now calling on the public to choose the winner online , where images and videos of the girls' auditions appear.

Danielle, a full time student studying law, has struggled with her body confidence over the years, once being told by a family friend to succeed she needed to lose two stone.

Danielle said: "My father was a theatre manager, travelling the world, always on tour he made an abundance of friends. At my father's wake a lot of whom were invited.

"I was talking with one of the guests in my grandmother's house about if I were ever interested in acting, the 'advice' he gave me: 'You're a beautiful girl but you're clearly a stone or two overweight, lose that and you can do anything.'

"The acting industry is not at times a far cry as shallow as the fashion industry. Unfortunately, his 'advice' stayed with me for years."

Danielle said: "It took me a long time to accept I will not look like the women in magazines, so like a glass half full I changed my perspective and realised it's the women in the magazines who need to change. There needs to be more diversity.

"That is something I truly believe in and looking back on it now, letting my body stop me from doing the things I want to do and could have done, was a glorified excuse.

"Changing my perspective was not easy; I've spent most of my life not really loving myself. I know I'm far from perfect but there is still only one me and one thing I've learnt is; hating your body will never get you as far as loving it will. And now I feel unstoppable.

"You have one life, do not waste any more time letting your insecurities or other people's destructive criticisms hold you back from doing what you believe in."

Hannah Isichei, head of PR and marketing at Curvy Kate, said: "Star in a Bra is pivotal to Curvy Kate. It's about celebrating every woman and shows women who wouldn't traditionally be seen in the media.

"We want to use women who our fans can relate to, women with body shapes that resemble our own bodies. It doesn't just make shopping for bras easier but it also shows us that there isn't just one type of beautiful."

The public can vote for their favourite model from Tuesday August 2. Voting closes on Tuesday August 23, and the winner is announced on Thursday August 25 at midday.

The winner will take away a modelling contract with Bridge Models, star in Curvy Kate's latest campaigns and receive a cash prize.
