The Science Museum has launched a fully interactive video game pop-up to run through half-term to celebrate the past 40 years of the industry.

Set up in partnership with the European Gaming League, Power UP has been stacked full with 180 gaming consoles and hundreds of different video games to try their hand at.

Whether you're a millennial gamer who can't see past the latest Playstation and Xbox offerings or a fan of classics on the SEGA Dreamcast, SNES and even the original educational computer, the BBC Micro, there is something for you.

POWER UP allows visitors to see and feel how far gaming technology has come in the last four decades since games like Pong took youngsters by storm, all the way to futuristic Playstation VR offerings.

POWER UP is fully interactive meaning you'll get to experience the games for yourself

While the exhibition is suitable for children, the South Kensington museum is also holding adult-only sessions on Thursday (October 26) and Friday (October 27) as well as during the late session on Wednesday (October 25).

The adult-only sessions will see 18+ games like Resident Evil and DOOM included and friends and colleagues can battle it out just like the good old days.

Last year's pop up was a huge success so the Science Museum have brought it back bigger and better

The lates feature panels on the history of gaming as well as the world premiere of footage from forthcoming documentary, The PlayStation Revolution.

Those more interested in the creation of video games can take part in Game On, an additional free workshop in which visitors will learn how to create games controllers using everyday objects.

Michelle Lockhart, Science Museum group commercial director, said “We’re delighted that we’re able to bring back Power UP to the Science Museum following a hugely successful run last year.

"The draw of video games really is universal and that’s reflected in what we’re offering our visitors.

"There is something on offer for everyone here – from parents who want to show their kids the games they grew up with, to gaming enthusiasts and retro fans who want to relive the classics."

Friends and colleagues can battle it out on one of over 180 consoles with hundreds of games to chose from
