For some schools, the summer holidays may not even be finished, and it may seem like yesterday you were buying uniform and school books for the new year... But October half term is closer than you think!

The half term holidays will be falling at the end of October for most state schools, and they'll be a good chance to get out into nature and do something fun in the local area.

Once school's out for the week off, you'll have to find ways to entertain your little ones, but help will be at hand - we'll be putting together guides to get you through the break with lots of ideas and things to do.

But before all that there's definitely one thing you need to know - when the half-term starts and finishes.

Keep track of the weather throughout the half-term:

Will you be playing in crunchy Autumn leaves or snuggled in a blanket away from the rain?

The Lyric Hammersmith are launching their children's programme this Autumn ; why not take the kids to a show?
