Roald Dahl fans can now explore the magical places across west London that inspired the books and films of the popular children's author with ease.

To coincide with the release of The BFG and in honour of the famous author's centenary celebrations, an interactive map has been launched to pinpoint places to visit around the world.

And dozens of Dahl adventures and celebratory events are right here in the capital.

From the Kempton Steam Museum in Hanworth which appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a stand-in for the Scrumptious Sweet Co factory to Buckingham Palace where Sophie and the BFG warn the Queen of the danger of the fearsome child-eating giants of Giant County, 'The Ultimate Map' is jam-packed with over 100 activities for all the family.

One of the biggest is the BFG inspired 'Dream Jar Trail' where the childhood dreams of celebrities are locked away in six-foot jars across iconic spots in London including director Steven Spielberg in Leicester Square, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan on Tower Bridge Road and entrepreneur Richard Branson in Marble Arch.

Other adventures mapped out include West End musicals including Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, as well as the Roald Dahl Invention Room at Foyles at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank.

'The Ultimate Map' has been created by Wayfair A Residence blogger Penny Alexander.

The BFG was released in the UK on July 22 while Roald Dahl’s centenary take place on September 13.
