Remembrance Day is annually held in the UK on November 11, and traditionally honours the sacrifices made during the First World War. It has now become a day to remember all conflicts over the years and honour those who have lost their lives as well as those still serving. Hostilities of the First World War formally ended at 11am on November 11, which is why remembrance is held on this date.

The main observance is on the second Sunday in November (this year Sunday, November 13), but two minutes' silence is also observed by many on November 11 itself - this year falling on Friday.

Many people wear poppies as a symbol of respect and tribute to the day, but there are also memorial services, church services and parades that you can go to.

Here are Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday events going on in west London that you can visit.
