That time of year has come around once more when the streets of London are lit up in celebration of Christmas .

Thousands of lights hang high above the pavements and around many of the capital city's top attractions, including Oxford Street and The Shard.

One street in particular renowned for its festive display is Regent Street .

Not only famous for its shopping, Regent Street puts on a fabulous light display each year, inviting stars to switch on the lights.

This year the street was lit up for Christmas on November 16, featuring 300,000 LED lights in the largest installation present in the capital.

Stars including Paloma Faith and Emma Bunton were on hand to light up the street.

The display reflects back to the first ever central London Christmas lights display on Regent Street in 1954.

Our gallery shows the changing face of Christmas on Regent Street over its 63 year history.
