A combination of passionate people from all walks of life, be it office managers, teachers or administrators, are teaming up once again for their latest production, Radio Times.

The show, which will be performed by The Chameleons Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS) in Saint Erconwald’s Church Hall, Carlton Avenue East, Wembley on September 19 and 20, boasts the tagline: “Radio, like you’ve never seen it before,” comprising of performances that re-live the recording of seminal moments in our time, and how they were recorded for radio broadcast.

Robert Spolander, 39, who lives in Harrow, said: “The show has all been put together at the last minute which has been both hectic and lots of fun.

“We are hoping to take people on a real journey through our modern history, so we will have our performers re-enacting recordings such as Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech, and Churchill’s ‘fight them on the beaches’ speech, but also take people back to famous sketches like Alan Partridge, Little Britain or memorable news bulletins.

“What is really great about our group is that we are all volunteers, so we are all there just for the passion of performing and theatre and for the show, and I hope the comes across for the audience.”

Formed in the 1960s and originally known as The Neasden Methodist Players, CADS usually aim to put on two productions alongside their annual January pantomime.

Mr Spolander, who works as an administrator for an energy company, added: “By recreating those moments in front of our audience, I think it could be quite a unique way of reliving things from the not-too-distant past, so it will be interesting to see how the audience respond.

“We are busy working away at rehearsals at the moment and fine-tuning things, and cannot wait for people to see it for themselves.”

The group are on the lookout for children to audition for their upcoming January 2015 pantomime performance of Cinderella.

If your child is aged between 8 and 15, then why not get them to come along to free and open auditions, held on Saturday, September 13 with registration at 1.30pm at Saint Erconwald’s Church Hall, Carlton Avenue East, Wembley.

Tickets are priced at £5 and can be purchased online at www.thechameleons.co.uk or by calling the box office on 0208 123 6443. Both shows begin at 7.45pm.
