Mayor of London Boris Johnson has taken to Youtube to give Londoners a special message ahead of the Prudential RideLondon cycling festival this weekend, Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2.

A keen cyclist and "veteran" of the RideLondon-Surrey 100, a 100-mile event that goes through central and west London and Surrey, the politician wished cyclists and spectators good luck with the events they are partaking in.

Mr Johnson said: "I want to wish everybody the best of luck with all the events that you're doing... I know that you're going to have a fantastic time, and I speak as a veteran of the Ride 100.

"I will never forget the joyful experience of being spurred up those beautiful Surrey hills by the encouragement and sometimes the cheerful derision of my fellow cyclists."

Events will take place from 9am on Saturday (August 1) and continue until Sunday (August 2) evening.
