Staged for the first time in August 2013, Prudential RideLondon is the largest festival of cycling in the world.

More than 95,000 participants are expected to ride more than 3m miles over five events at this year's event.

Prudential RideLondon will take place over Saturday August 1 and Sunday August 2 this year.

The event combines the fun of a free family ride in central London with the excitement of watching the world's best professional cyclists (including Sir Bradley Wiggins), and raises millions of pounds for good causes.

As well as professional cycling events locals can watch, there is a 100-mile challenge on closed roads, in which amateur cyclists can partake and raise money.

Last year's event raised a staggering £10m, setting a new record for one-day cycling events.

But what's going on and when?

August 1:

  • FreeCycle (9am-4pm): Offers families the opportunity to experience the fun and freedom of cycling on traffic-free roads in central London.
  • Grand Prix (5pm-7.30pm): A series of criterium races that will take place in central London.
  • Cycling Show: Will feature a vast selection of manufacturers, international races, charities, magazines and medical companies under one roof at ExCeL in London from Thursday July 30 until Saturday August 1.

August 2:

  • 100 (from 6am): The race starts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, then follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through London and into Surrey. Sir Bradley Wiggins has confirmed he will take part in this event.
  • Classic (from 1.30pm): Sees 150 of the world's top cyclists, made up of 25 teams of six riders each, tackling a 200km route through London and Surrey.
  • Handcycle Classic (8.30am): The event will see a field of up to 30 hand cyclists race from Kingston Upon Thames' Ancient Market Place on a 15-mile route through the capital to finish in spectacular style on The Mall in Westminster.
