Unsettled weather could strike again during the Notting Hill Carnival with a mixture of rain and sunshine forecast.

Cloudy conditions are expected on Saturday (August 29) but then rain is almost certain on Sunday, according to the Met Office.

The outlook for the final day on Bank Holiday Monday looks more promising with dry and clear spells.

A spokeswoman for the Met Office said: "Saturday is looking grey and overcast, but with no rain.

"There will be a cloudy start to Sunday, with a 50% chance of rain before 4pm and an 80% chance of rain at 7pm. It will get heavier as the day goes on.

"Monday will have heavy rain overnight, and initially will be rainy, but will brighten up by 7am. By 10am it will be dry and getting brighter as the day goes on."

This week transport was hit by flooding on Wednesday after a weather warning was issued for London and the South East.

The bad weather should not put on a dampener on an event that is expected to attract a million people to west London.

Since 1964 London's Afro-Caribbean communities have been celebrating their culture and traditions with the festival.

Around 500 people came then, and now around one million people attend the carnival annually, with the event getting bigger and better every year.

Londoners can expect to see live music from all over the world, steel bands and floats, as they munch on jerk chicken and sip a fresh coconut.
