Every November, men around the world throw away the razors and grow a moustache to raise funds for Movember.

It aims to raise funds and awareness for men’s health with programmes focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

So how does Movember work?

The idea is you start clean shaven on November 1 and you grow a moustache for 30 days.

Organisers say "your moustache turns you into a walking, talking billboard for men's health."

You'll need to sign up on the UK Movember website.

What are the rules of Movember?

Movember say the first rule is to begin with a clean shaven face on November 1 (this year on a Sunday).

For the month of November, 'mo bros' must grow and groom a moustache.

The moustache can't be joined to side burns, as that is considered a beard, and there is no be no joining of the moustache to your chin, as that's considered a goatee.

Can women take part?

Yes! Organisers have included the ladies by promoting "Move for Movember", suggesting that women should exercise and get moving instead of growing out their whiskers to raise money and awareness... No excuses!
