A second series is set to take off in a behind-the-scenes documentary of how Britain’s biggest and busiest two-runway airport is run.

The first of three special episodes of Britain’s Busiest Airport - Heathrow will land on television screens on May 30 and will be aired on ITV.

Viewers are in for a treat with the opening episode starring the airport’s very own security officers, passenger experience managers and animal handlers at Heathrow Animal Reception Centre.

Following the success of series 1 where we met an airport duty manager and engineering technician, meet some of the staff who are set to be in the spotlight in the first episode of the second series.

One of the stars Callum Riseley who lives in Ealing is a passenger service manager in the operations team for Terminal 2 and 3 whose most cherished moment was being part of the opening of The Queen’s Terminal.

The 22-year-old who started his aviation career as a security officer at Stansted, also served at British Airways before a number of roles over four years at Heathrow.

Mr Riseley said: “Heathrow is a really exciting place to work as no two days are ever the same - you never know what to expect when you arrive at work.

"There are so many fantastic opportunities to grow and develop my career.

"The team are so supportive and I have met some amazing people who have helped me progress.”

For all the animal lovers there will be a chance to see Victoria Howell, an animal health officer, at work on the animal border patrol.

Having been employed for nearly three years as part of the team who meet all the wildlife coming into the country, she says there’s never a dull moment.

“You can go from dealing with a cute puppy to a cow or a rhino,” said Ms Howell who is a big David Attenborough fan.

“The highlights are moments when you get to reunite owners with their animals but then the downside is telling owners that their pets need to go into quarantine.”

Her favourite moments include the chance to get up close to rare animals recalling the time she helped care for 12 iguanas discovered during a customs check in 2014.

Heathrow security officers Shahid Saleem; John Mirpuri and Tony Singh

You will also meet Shahid Saleen, a security officer in Terminal 4 from Slough who has worked at Heathrow for 10 years during which time his favourite moment was meeting his childhood hero Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan.

He said: “I love working with so many different people and meeting different passengers. If I can put a smile on someone’s face or make their journey easier and enjoyable then fantastic.

“It may sound sad, but I love my job, I always have done. I don’t get tired of it and always looking forward to coming in to work.”

As a father he loves baking with his three-year-old daughter and has high hopes to turn her into a master baker.
