We don't want to be spoilsports at getwestlondon , but news that the London Paramount resort is set to open in January 2020 is, sadly, untrue.

A Facebook event that was advertising an 'opening party' being held on January 3 2020 has been doing the rounds on Facebook recently, with nearly 70,000 people signing up for it.

The event description stated: "Join this event to be the first to find out about the opening of UK's first Disneyland Rival Theme Park Entertainment Resort !" exciting adults and children alike.

However, a spokesperson for London Paramount has said it was a fake, adding: "We haven't even submitted a planning application yet.

"We've really got some enthusiastic people out there."

If approved and built, the resort will feature over 50 rides and attractions which will include differing themed areas, including Adventure Isle, Port Paramount and Entertainment City.

According to LRCH, the "Grand Opening" could come as soon as spring-summer 2021

It will also included 'West End' quality shows, 5,000 hotel bedrooms and the largest water park in Europe.

It will be built on a former landfill site on the Swanscombe Peninsula in Kent, the other side of the M25 to west London, and the developer behind the resort, London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH) has said it is making "good progress."

Spokesman David Testa said: "The funds are in place to take this project through the planning process.

"We intend to submit our application in 2017."

He did however add that the bid was "behind schedule" but that it was reaching a "critical stage."

Such is the scale of the proposal, the plans constitute a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), which requires many aspects of a typical planning application that could otherwise be deferred to a later date to be considered well in advance.
