London Marathon 2016: Local celebrities to look out for during the race

Plenty of celebrities take part in the London Marathon every year - here are the famous faces flying the flag for the capital in 2016

The London Marathon is one of the biggest community sporting events in the UK, with thousands set to join in and run for a good cause this year, on Sunday April 24.

This year, a whopping 37,000 runners are expected to take part in the 26.2-mile run.

As well as thousands of inspirational West London residents, dozens of celebrities also take part in the marathon annually, including lots of local faces.

Here are just some of the amazing celebrities from London participating in the marathon this year:

Ashley James

Ashley is a former star of reality show Made in Chelsea, going on to carve out a successful career as a model, TV and radio presenter. In 2014 she launched her own jewellery brand Whistle & Bango.

She's running the marathon for Marie Curie.

Jeremy Joseph

Jeremy has owned G-A-Y for over two decades, which boasts popular LGBT bars in Soho and Manchester. The G-A-Y stage has seen performances of some of the biggest stars in the world including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse and Adele.

This will be Jeremy's seventh London Marathon and he will be raising funds for EJAF (Elton John AIDs Foundation).

Jim Chapman

YouTuber Jim Chapman lives in London with his wife Tanya Burr - a popular YouTuber and beauty blogger.

Jim will be running the marathon for the British Heart Foundation.

Charlie Brooks

Londoner Charlie is best known for her role as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, but is also known for winning the 2011 Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, and was crowned Queen of the Jungle in the 12th series of I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.

Charlie is running the marathon for Cancer Research.

Camilla Rutherford

Camden-born actress Camilla Rutherford has starred in big-screen hits, including Wes Anderson's Darjeeling Limited and Vanity Fair, as well as modelling and writing a blog, The English Mother.

Camilla is running the marathon for the NSPCC.

James Cracknell

Olympian James Cracknell will be running for Headway, a leading brain injury charity.

Gruffudd Glyn

The actor, who starred alongside Eddie Redmayne in The Theory of Everything, will be running for Bloodwise.

Natalie Dormer

The Game of Thrones and Hunger Games actress will be running this year's London Marathon for children's charity the NSPCC.

Dame Kelly Holmes MBE

Olympic runner Dame Kelly Holmes will be running in aid of the Dame Kelly Holmes Trust, which supports athletes transitioning from sport, using their skills and experience to mentor disadvantaged youngsters.

She will also be supporting Myeloma UK, MIND, The Pickering Trust and Hospice in the Weald.

Chris Evans

Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans will be running for BBC's Children in Need.

Bobby Norris

The Only Way is Essex star Bobby Norris will be running for Anthony Nolan after his mum was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia last year.

A donor was found for her through the charity, and running the marathon is Bobby's way of saying thank you.

Gary Poulton

Gary starred on The Apprentice in 2015, and will be running the marathon in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Baasit Siddiqui

Baasit is part of the Siddiqui family on Channel 4's reality show Gogglebox. This will be Baasit's second marathon, and his first London Marathon. He will be running for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
