The world mourned this year following the death of music, art and fashion genius David Bowie on January 10 this year, two days after his 69th birthday.
The singer, who was dubbed the Picasso of pop, was born in Brixton and was known for a stream of hits including 'Starman', 'Space Oddity' and 'Let's Dance' alongside award winning albums.
The star not only appeared on stage as himself, but he also created an alter ego for himself, the world-renowned Ziggy Stardust.
He performed in front of millions of fans all over the world, but perhaps one of his most iconic performances was right here in west London, where he retired his much loved alter ego.
The performance, in 1973 has taken its place in history as The Retirement Gig, as Ziggy played for the crowds one final time in the then Hammersmith Odeon, now the Apollo.
Almost one year on from his death, January 8 would have been Bowie's 70th birthday and in tribute, events are taking place across west London.
Bowie Birthday Bash
On Saturday January 7 a concert will be held in St Saviour's Church Hall in Pimlico .
Tribute band, Bowie Oddity, will be entertaining the audience with some of the rock legend's greats with hits from 'Space Oddity' right through to his most recent album, 'Blackstar'.
Pimlico serves as a fitting venue as Bowie frequently visited area in the mid-sixties when performing with his band The Lower Third.

Shavasana Disco
Life long fans and even those new to Bowie are invited to join Will Williams for a playing of some of Bowie's much loved hits.
The event will be the launch of a series of music events which takes fans through a guided meditation followed by the playing of an album which was originally recorded in the venue itself.
The first disco will be a tribute to David Bowie, taking place on Sunday December 8 from 9.30am until 12pm at Olympic Studios in Barnes .
Those attending will be able to enjoy music from two albums 'Diamond Dogs' and 'The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'.
Aside from David Bowie, music legends like The Rolling Stones, The Eagles and Led Zeppelin have all used the studios to record songs.
