Christmas celebrations are set to kick off in Isleworth with a weekend of fun.

The lights will be switched on at Isleworth Christmas market on Saturday, December 5, where visitors can also enjoy west London's answer to the London Eye.

The previous day, Friday, December 4, will see the official relaunch of the gallery in Isleworth's Lower Square, with festive shopping and a visit from Santa to mark the event.

This year's Christmas market, which is part of the Inspiring Isleworth calendar of events, will feature 40 stalls in Swan Court, Lower Square and down to The Wharf, selling artisan gifts and food.

The market will get underway with the lights switch on and carol singing in Shrewsbury Walk at 3pm, and it will run until 7pm.

There will be children's rides on the village green in North Street, the 'Isleworth Eye' by The Town Wharf pub, a carousel outside the Old Blue School and a Santa's grotto.

Last year's market attracted more than 2,000 people, according to organisers.

South Street on the Square Gallery 's re-launch will begin at 3pm the previous day.

Shoppers will be able to browse hand made arts and crafts by local producers at the gallery, in Lower Square, Isleworth, from 3pm.

Santa will be making an appearance from about 7pm and there will be an exhibition of local photography, called 'Old Isleworth-New Scenes'.
