The weekend is almost upon us and the weather in London is set to be hotter than the Canary Islands .

And sunny days don't come around all that often in England, so we've rounded up some great events and ideas of things to do for you, so you can get out in the sun and enjoy every moment of the warm weather.

Go to a springtime music concert

Celebrate springtime and Shakespeare's birthday with the free River of Music concert series.

"Sonnets and Songs for Springtime" will be performed by the Marble Hill Singers and the All Saints' String Ensemble directed by Robert Mingay Smith.

The programme will include Purcell "Come ye Sons of Art"; John Rutter’s Birthday Madrigals, "Shakespeare Songs and Sonnets" by Shearing; and music by Franck, Langlais and Bernstein.

This event takes place on Saturday May 7 at 7.30pm and is free to enter.

Hire a Boris Bike

Why not hire one of London's legendary Boris Bikes this bank holiday and cycle around your local area, taking in the sights?

The bikes cost £2 for 24-hour bike access, and the first 30 minutes of each journey is free. Longer journeys cost £2 for each extra 30 minutes (For under a tenner you can have the bike for two and a half hours)

See some outdoor theatre

This Saturday (May 7), Bell Square Hounslow is back! And for its first performance of the year, it will be transformed into a fabulous fairground complete with a magnificent life-sized carousel .

Listen to the stories of the people who work and play at the fairground and be enchanted as they flip, dive and roll to toe-tapping music in this fun dance show.

Have a picnic

With Richmond Park, Regents Park, Hyde Park and Kew Gardens on our doorstops, what better do than gather up your family and friends and sit with a lovely picnic and sunbathing session?

Visit the farm

Take the children for a visit to Hounslow Urban Farm for the day and enjoy the animals in the sunshine. Take a walk around the paddocks and feed the farm animals. Weekly pig racing is sure to be a hit with the kids!

Take the kids outdoor swimming

Normally, the thought of swimming outside in England is enough to make you want to run inside with a blanket and a cup of tea, but now the weather's nice and hot, it sounds like heaven!

Take a picnic and load up on the suncream, there are plenty of local lidos to relax in and enjoy a leisurely swim.
