Celebrations for The Queen's birthday will be taking place all over west London this week, with the monarch turning 90 on Thursday April 21.

And as part of the celebrations, the LMS Jubilee Class 5699 Galatea steam train was due to chug through London and Surrey during the day.

However, it was announced on Wednesday (April 20) that the iconic steam train had developed a fault and would therefore not be available on the day. A vintage diesel train will replace it.

The Galatea train was itself a substitute after the original Royal Lizzie locomotive was withdrawn due to complications with its repair.

The double-headed diesel train - Number 37 and 47 - will leave London Victoria on Thursday - the Queen's actual birthday.

It will pass through areas of west London, including Kensington, Acton, Kew, Brentford, Hounslow and Feltham, before winding its way through Surrey and back up to London Victoria again.

Passengers on board the luxury Cathedrals Express tour will pass landmarks including Runnymede, Brooklands Museum, Chertsey Abbey, Royal Holloway University, Chilworth Manor, the River Wey, Box Hill and Gatton Park.
