A one-of-a-kind Harry Potter themed hat, created and signed by author JK Rowling has been listed on eBay by a seller in West London.

The white baseball cap has been inscribed by the author saying: "(poorly) designed and decorated by JK Rowling".

It also features a golden snitch on the front, made from a ping pong ball and painted gold by the Harry Potter author.

The seller has listed the item at £2,720 on the auction site and they describe it as an 'extremely unique item' which would make for a 'great investment'.

The signed letter by author Susan Hill, confirming that Rowling donated the cap to raise money for charity

The listing comes at a perfect time as Harry Potter fever has truly returned in 2016 with the upcoming spin-off Fantastic Beasts about to be released and the scramble for tickets to see The Cursed Child, a sequel to the franchise in play form.

It was originally listed at auction in February 2013 where it was estimated between £2000-£3000, in aid of the Prince of Wales Hospice.

The item comes with a correspondence card from The Woman in Black author Susan Hill which says: "I personally guarantee that this cap was sent by me to J. K. Rowling who decorated it by hand with the Golden Snitch and signed it.

"She returned it to me to be auctioned in aid of the Prince of Wales Hospice."
