Free touch rugby sessions are being offered to young people in Hounslow and Richmond to celebrate the start of the Rugby World Cup.

People aged seven to 21 can get to grips with the sport at three sessions taking place in Hampton, Hanworth and Hounslow during the tournament, which begins on September 18.

They are part of a range of free activities being run as part of housing provider RHP's (Richmond Housing Partnership) Urban Academy.

The academy's summer holiday programme, which began at the start of August, ranges from film-making to paintballing.

RHP's head of community services Caroline Hand said: "We're delighted we can bring these brilliant touch rugby sessions to not just our customers but to all young people within the local community.

"With the Rugby World Cup happening on our doorstep it’s a great chance to celebrate the host of rugby talent that will be in our area and to showcase to young people that one day that could be them!"

The free rugby sessions will take place on the following dates. There's no need to book. Just turn up and play:

  • Wednesday September 23, 5.30pm-6.30pm: Hampton Youth Project, 32 Tangley Park Road, Hampton, TW12 3YH
  • Wednesday September 30, 4.30pm-6.00pm: Hounslow Heath Community Centre, 190 Edgar Road Hounslow, TW4 5QF
