You can get a free health MOT and advice on getting in shape for 2015 at a health fair in Hounslow next Friday (January 9).

Experts will test you for diabetes, check your cholesterol levels and even calculate the age of your lungs based on how well you have looked after them.

They will also help you improve your lifestyle and keep those new year's resolutions, from quitting smoking and cutting down on drink to shedding some pounds.

The free event, organised by Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare NHS Trust, will take place at Bell Square, just west of Hounslow High Street, where the market is located, from 9am-5pm.

Stalls will include:

Hounslow Stop Smoking Service - offering free carbon monoxide and lung age tests as well as going through the first session of their six-week programme

Hounslow Health Promotion Service - offering health checks, including measuring cholesterol, blood sugar levels and BMI (body mass index)

iHear Partnership – offering advice on drug and alcohol abuse and how people can get support in Hounslow

British Heart Foundation – offering advice and information on looking after your heart including diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure and CVD (cardiovascular disease)

Metropolitan Police – offering information about burglary and crime prevention
