Ealing Half Marathon runners who want to sign up and raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society can request a race place or apply for a runner's race pack and info direct from them if they have already signed up. You can also make a donation to the charity when registering. 

One in three people over 65 will develop dementia, and Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 800,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia and more than half have Alzheimer’s disease. In less than ten years a million people will be living with dementia. This will soar to 1.7 million people by 2051.

One of the runners lacing her trainers for Alzheimer’s Society is Catherine Gunnewicht from Ealing, a manager at Care Concern (Homecare) Ltd who recently became a Dementia Friend. Catherine has pledged to help improve the lives of people living with dementia by raising awareness of the condition.  Working with people who are living with Alzheimer's, Catherine sees the effects the illness has and wants to raise awareness of the condition and ensure more resources are invested into research and support for people with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Society do invaluable work by providing much needed help, support and advice to people living with dementia and their families and friends who are often left feeling bewildered and overwhelmed by the condition.
