Artists from across Pinner are to showcase their work as the surrounding area becomes a hub of creativity and discovery for ten days.

From September 26 until October 5, Pinner Arts Week will see music, art and poetry will flourish across 14 different locations with many events being either free or priced under £15.

Organised by designer Colin Robinson, textile artist Jeannine Lawder, musician Lis Warren and poet and writer and poet Phil Lawder, the festival is to be the first of its kind in Pinner, solely celebrating local art.

Mr Lawder, 66, of Meadow Road, said: “A friend of ours who is an artist came up with the idea, but did not really have time to take it all on, so between the four of us we have all been working away to organise it all, with some great events and all done 90 per cent by local artists.

“The wonderful thing about it has been that each time you approach someone about the idea of showcasing their art or them performing in some way, they recommend another local person and another and another and it is a ripple effect which has been a wonderful journey of discovery for us all.

“It has been very important for us to have most of the events as free, because this is a community event first and foremost, but any profit that we make is going straight to the William Heath Robinson Museum project in West House , which is a fantastic local cause,”

The event boasts up to 38 events including art and photography exhibitions, an artisans’ fair, live demonstrations and workshops.

Events will take place at venues such as the Harrow Arts Centre in Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, West House, in Pinner Memorial Park, West End Lane, and Pinner Parish Church, in Church Lane.
