When you're snoozing on the couch on the evening of Christmas Day, as the turkey settles in your stomach, what will you be thinking about? The final Downton Abbey? Why you went back for seconds? Or what you're going to spend your Christmas vouchers on?

If it's the latter, then you're probably one of the eager shoppers who will be heading out to tackle the infamous Boxing Day sales.

Before the phenomenon that is Black Friday arrived on these shores from the States, the most early-anticipated sales event of the year was the Boxing Day sales - and they're still going strong.

On the high street

Next have always been the legends of the early morning sale, and true to form, they'll be opening their doors early on Boxing Day. Although they won't be revealing their exact opening times until nearer the date, they opened their doors last Boxing Day at 6am, so it's safe to assume that this year will be similar.

Debenhams will also be joining the early morning bandwagon on Boxing Day, opening their doors at 7am. However, they'll also be launching some of their deals online as early as Christmas Eve. Click here to unearth their deals.

Argos are also getting in ahead of the Boxing Day rush, putting their deals online at a minute past midnight on Christmas Day. If you don't want to sit watching the clock on Christmas Eve, you can always call into one of their stores on Boxing Day to take advantage of hundreds of deals on homeware, technology and toys.

Currys PC World, meanwhile, will be putting some of their deals online from 7pm on Christmas Eve.

Tesco usually go in big on Boxing Day discounts, so be sure to head to your nearest store on Boxing Day if it's opening - use their store locator to find out.

Amazon, probably the biggest online retailer of all, will be dropping prices on dozens of items from Boxing Day until New Year's Eve Check out their offerings here.

ASOS, one of the biggest online fashion retailers, usually goes big on menswear and womenswear reductions on Boxing Day.
