A cabaret performer from Chiswick has helped raise a whopping £500 for a charity providing free education to children in Marrakech.

Breast-cancer survivor Yvette Cowles now in her early 50s gave a dazzling performance of her one-woman show Sequins on my Balcony, raising much needed funds for the Henna Cafe Cultural Association.

Audiences piled into the Riad Star, former home of jazz superstar and banana dance originator Josephine Baker, earlier this month, to see the show which is based on the belly dance teachers experiences in life and journey with cancer through the medium of dance and drama.

Money raised from the evening was donated to the local charity and will be used to sponsor a teacher for three months to educate young children in Morocco.
