Armed Forces Day is coming up and events are going on around the country to celebrate.

Held annually on the last Saturday of June, it provides the nation with a dedicated day where people can show their appreciation and support of the Armed Forces. This year the official day will be hosted by Guildford, Surrey.

Many charities supporting the armed forces will be getting involved with the day, and communities everywhere will be organising music, exhibitions, stalls and entertainment to celebrate.

Events going on in London include a parade and fun day, cabaret and sponsored march and walk in Chingford, on June 27 and 28, and a day-festival at the Woolwich barracks on June 27.

So get down to your nearest celebration and enjoy Armed Forces Day!

When is it?

Armed Forces Day will be on Saturday June 27.

The first Armed Forces Day was held on June 27, 2009. The Historic Dockyard Chatham was selected to host the main event, which was complemented by hundreds of smaller events in towns and cities across the UK.
