One night only shows are in vogue at Richmond Theatre this Autumn with a variety of  performances to choose from

As part of the Richmond Literature Festival,  Charles Moore  will be hosting a discussion and reading excerpts from his book “Margaret Thatcher – The Authorised Biography”. Charles was given full access to Lady Thatcher’s personal and government papers, and granted numerous personal interviews after she appointed him as her official biographer in 1997, on condition that the book would not be published in her lifetime.

Following her death earlier this year,  Volume One: Not For Turning  was published to critical acclaim, and Moore will be providing a fascinating insight into the life of ‘The Iron Lady’ on Sunday 10 November at 7.30pm.

For those who are looking for a musical night out this November, we have both the timeless music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons on offer in  Let’s Hang On  (Wednesday 13 November, 7.30pm) followed by rock music as one of the greatest UK tribute bands visits us on Tuesday 19 November -  UK Pink Floyd Experience . The band aims to recreate the atmosphere of the great Pink Floyd in concert, featuring songs from  The Dark Side of the Moon  to  The Division Bell .

If it’s comedy you’re after this month, Richmond Theatre has two comics   scheduled to bring their own very different brands of humour to the stage.  Ardal O’Hanlon  brings his observational style, the subject matter of life itself and a default expression of utter disbelief, as his new stand up show for 2013 tours to Richmond on Thursday 21 November at 8pm. The following evening (Friday 22 November, 7.30pm),  Gyles Brandreth  sets out to discover the secret of ‘How To Be Happy’. He recounts his journey from Las Vegas to the psychiatrist’s chair   in his new show  Looking for Happiness , with some life lessons from Frank Sinatra, Frankie Howerd and The Queen along the way, and produces as unique one-man show that should make you laugh and could change your life.

Finally, we also have another production here for a limited two night run which has just received great national reviews. On Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November  Adele Silva  ( Emmerdale ) takes on the lead role in one-woman show  51 Shades of Maggie.  Initially written by Leesa Harker as a spoof blog of the best-selling  Fifty Shades of Grey , the blog was so well received in its own right that it went viral, reaching tens of thousands of followers in a matter of days, and has been specifically adapted for the stage. The play first hit the Belfast stage in January 2013, selling out all 9,000 seats, and went on to perform extended runs in Dublin and Glasgow.
