HAVE you ever imagined what it would be like to have a soundtrack accompanying you as you make your way through the day?

I'm not talking about plugging into your playlist to drown out the traffic, but the full cinematic treatment for life's incidental moments.

Well, City Stories promises to do something like that, giving full musical life to three of the many tales of love and loss so easily forgotten amid London's hustle and bustle.

Written and directed by James Phillips, and featuring original live music from Rosabella Gregory, it weaves together three very personal tales from the capital's streets.

Waiting for a train at St Pancras, Natalie is told she is the answer to the riddle of life. Approached by a stranger in Starbucks, Vivian is presented with a book that changes her forever. In a world falling asleep, hour by hour, Audrey drifts through empty streets.

Phillips' first play, The Rubenstein Kiss, won the John Whiting and TMA awards for best play and his most recent work, Hidden in the Sand, opened at London's Trafalgar Studios last month.

Singer-songwriter Gregory, who is part of the cast, has supported Jools Holland and can be heard on Delilah's debut album, From the Roots Up.

* City Stories: Narcissi, The Great Secret and Lullaby is at St James Theatre Studio, in Palace Street, Victoria, for four performances only from November 14-16. For tickets, visit www.stjamestheatre.co.uk or call the box office on 0844 264 2140.
