South Ruislip shoppers might be delighted to hear that the brand new Asda superstore has an official opening date and will be bringing with it 250 jobs.

The opening of the store has been around three years in the making after Hillingdon Council approved the redevelopment of the The Old Dairy just off Victoria Road in 2014.

Now after an extended legal battle between Sainbury's supermarket and the developers, the Asda store will finally be opening.

General manager of the new 40,000sq-ft shop, Lee Randall, said: “We're so excited to be opening Asda South Ruislip in a few months' time, and it's fantastic that we're able to offer 250 jobs to members of the local community with a variety of positions."

Mr Randall added: “Customers can look forward to a wide range of products from George clothing to groceries, meaning we're the perfect destination for a complete weekly shop.”

The Asda store will be opening in May

“The team and I are looking forward to becoming part of the local community, especially our community life champion Claire Rose who will be working alongside the town's groups and projects to help support them whenever possible," he said.

Work started in 2015

The store is due to open on May 22 and will include George clothing, a coffee shop, click and collect service and a petrol station.

Asda also said it was “renowned for having the lowest fuel prices in town”.

The site will also have 500 customer parking spaces.

Opening times will be 7am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.

Jobs will include a mixture of full time and part time roles across all of the store's departments.

More details on the vacancies can be found on the Asda careers site.
