London has arguably the best music scene around, with thousands of talented musicians emerging every day, most of which are unsigned acts waiting for their big break.

Unsigned Friday brings you the very best unsigned music artists from around the capital, as well as giving these acts a platform to promote their music.

This week, getwestlondon's Emily Chudy caught up with folk-pop band Stolen Car.

Stolen Car are a west London-based group that play a "unique brand of folk, soul and rock 'n' roll music".

The band members include; Joe Card, Dee McGruddy, Leon Maitreya, Oli Leonard, Bradley Thame, Barbara Bartz and Aaron Griffiths.

Singer-songwriter Joe Card said: "I started out as a solo singer/songwriter about 7 or 8 years ago, then the band itself came into existence in around 2010.

"The music is an energetic folk-pop-soul stew with a definite British slant. Bands like Squeeze, The Jam, Kinks, David Bowie are definite touchstones, although there's also a lot of Americana and 60s soul in there too.

"Our music has big ideas and important themes (something that almost all modern pop music seems to lack) but we're also trying to have fun and make people smile.

Stolen Car have played many live shows and have a strong local following. Recently among their live repertoire have been shows at Brentford Festival, The Hanwell Hootie Festival, and The Horns in Watford.

Card said: "Playing live is absolutely the greatest joy in being a musician and we're really excited about these shows.

"In the future? I'd hope that our music has found a home in many more people's lives and made them think a bit more about the world around them. And hopefully got them dancing as well!"

The band currently has an album out, entitled All In The Game, which is available to purchase on iTunes.
